About nora

20170803-763A2714.jpg

Hello! I'm Nora - I was born & raised in Tofino, British Columbia. I have since lived in Montreal & Victoria, but I am currently nesting in Tofino.

I started shooting about ten years ago, and since then I've carried my digital camera along on most of my adventures. I've always gravitated towards shooting people, often in places that they love.

I have just wrapped up my Honours Bsc. in Biology - I get really excited talking about the ecology of coastal temperate rainforests as well as the human body. This has motivated me to incorporate the natural environment into my images.  Having grown up on the west coast, I am used to getting a little dirty if needed. I am happy shooting in any kind of weather, and I take pride in knowing exactly where to shoot in any combination of time, weather, and style.

When I am not shooting or studying, I am in the mountains. That is the place where everything always feels right.

ARIANA & JOEY

TOFINO, B.C. SEPTEMBER 2018.

I’ll start by saying this was unplanned - a "millennial" moment where you feel connected to someone over social media - not just with their work - but with the person. A couple’s shoot was never something that crossed my mind. I hated the idea of being posed to look in love, it seemed so staged and awkward. Couldn't someone just capture us being ourselves? With Nora, the answer is YES. On our last morning we headed down to an empty rainy/foggy beach. It felt similar to the other beach walks we had been on - dipping our toes in the ocean, running around, breathing in the crisp westcoast air, and stopping in moments of stillness to appreciate it all. The only difference was that we had Nora there, making it that much better! It was the perfect balance of subtle direction and space to just be ourselves. Getting the album brought us right back - and our hearts melted. The best way to describe it is that it allowed us to see our relationship exactly as it is. I noticed my partner sneaking loving glances at me and thought how fortunate I am. For the first time I saw on my face what I feel in my heart and that is priceless.

TOFINO, B.C. JULY 2018

Nora is outstanding! My fiancé and I booked her for our wedding a year and a half away and decided to do an engagement shoot too. I was really excited but my fiancé was a little hesitant (as most men tend be about taking photos, let’s be honest haha). Nora made both my fiancé and I feel so comfortable. She captured such natural photos of us, and it never felt like we were posing. My fiancé and I felt like we were just on a fun little date the entire shoot. Who knew that engagement photos would make us so much more excited for our wedding day?

Amazing work Nora, we can’t wait to share our special day with you!

SHAWNIGAN LAKE, B.C. JULY 2018.

Nora did such an amazing job with our couples photoshoot! She was enthusiastic and fun (even at 5am) and made the whole experience so enjoyable for both of us. She came prepared with a ton of great direction for us, which made our photos look natural and authentic. There was no pressure; Nathan and I felt comfortable just being ourselves and having fun. We couldn't be happier with how the photos turned out - they are absolutely perfect! We would highly recommend Nora to anyone who wants beautiful photos done!

PACIFIC RIM NATIONAL PARK, B.C. AUGUST 2018.

Having our photos done with Nora was a great experience and a fun adventure! We are pretty mellow when it comes to decision making so Nora chose the location (which ended up being one of our favourite storm watching beaches) and she also guided us with outfits that would look nice in the setting. Nora met us at the the local brewery in town and graciously told us she would be the DD so we could gather some liquid courage for our shoot. When we got to the beach it was not the sunset we were hoping for (or even a sunset at all) but our photos turned out beautifully! Even though it was a foggy evening the colours looked warm and I wouldn’t have wanted them to look any different! We laughed a lot and danced - she did not pose us but was very helpful with guiding us up and down the beach to get perfect shots. We will be booking Nora for our wedding and cannot wait to have her there! She’s warm and hilarious and gets the job done. We can’t wait to work with her in the future!

BRANDON & KATIE

VICTORIA, B.C. JULY 2018.

We had such a great time completing an engagement/lifestyle photoshoot with Nora. She gave great detailed direction that left us feeling supported at every moment. Her instruction was also creative which allowed her to capture us in a unique and natural way. She had a great eye for detail, which was super helpful as we are acrobats and many of the moves we were doing had subtleties to them that not everyone would see - she captured these subtleties beautifully. To top it all off she is just a sweet and generous soul. We would highly recommend Nora and look forward to working with her again.

SALT SPRING ISLAND, B.C. MAY 2018.

Working with Nora was absolutely wonderful. She came prepared and had an amazing attitude to shoot in multiple locations she had never seen before. She gave us room to suggest ideas but also took charge and made us all feel comfortable and confident. She has quick eyes and feet and was able to capture some of the most memorable moments of our wedding that were over in an instant (hello surprise confetti arch)!

Our wedding is now preserved in the most beautiful way and we couldn’t be happier that her photos are what we get to look back on.

TOFINO, B.C. SPRING 2017.

Being photographed by Nora was a dream! She made me feel so relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera at both 7.5 months pregnant, one month postpartum, and again six months later! She beautifully captured genuine moments and honesty in her photos and even with a crying newborn, we had a lovely time together. I look forward to many more shoots with Nora as life unfolds for our family.

I view her photos as cherished and authentic snapshots of special moments in time that sneak away far too quickly.

PACIFIC RIM NATIONAL PARK, NOVEMBER 2018

Our session with Nora was such a dream! I found her photography through social media, and knew right away that I had to reach out to her about an upcoming Tofino trip we had planned.

Before our shoot, Nora really spent time getting to know us and this made our meeting that much more exciting! The first thing I noticed, and was incredibly thankful for, was how talented she was at giving us direction. We had many playful games that captured our truly genuine moments!

It was an unforgettable experience and we would highly recommend Nora to anyone! Trust us, if you’re looking for a photographer who will exceed all of your expectations, then you’ve found her! You’re a true gem, Nora - we can’t wait to work with you again!

RICK & KLERI

TOFINO BOTANICAL GARDENS, AUGUST 2018.

When we first saw Nora’s pictures, I burst into tears. She had captured so much light and love from the day that we could see it in every image.

We are especially touched by the pictures of our wedding with our parents and those of us together as we walked through the rain forest.

Nora made us feel comfortable and natural and now we have images that we can cherish the rest of our lives together.

COLLYER FAMILY

UCLUELET, B.C. JULY 2018.

Nora captured the true essence of love and happiness during our family photoshoot. She was sweet, open, patient, and clever in her approach to photography.

Beautiful doesn’t even begin to describe how incredible our photos are. Every time I look back at them I am either smiling, laughing or have tears of joy in my eyes. I am so grateful for have these special moments captured.

She was a pleasure to work with and I would recommend her in heartbeat. We will definitely work with her again in the future! Thanks again Nora!
